WELCOME TO THE CHEROKEE NATION'S SELF-GUIDED TOUR PROGRAM.

You will discover adventures in every direction, starting with admission to four historic museums.

When you sign up, you'll receive an official Compass booklet that contains tour information, Cherokee trivia, games and special offers from local vendors.

At each museum, you will receive a stamp in your booklet. Once you've collected all four stamps, head to the Cherokee Nation Gift Shop Tahlequah. Adults will receive a free commemorative T-shirt and Jr. Compass participants will receive a sheriff's badge.

Collect stamps at other sites throughout the Cherokee Nation and experience enriching activities and memorable adventures for the whole family.

MAIN ATTRACTIONS

Offering exhibits, cultural workshops and events throughout the

year, the Cherokee Heritage Center includes the Cherokee

National Museum, Ancient Village, Adams Corner Rural Village,

Nofire Farms, Cherokee Family Research Center and Cherokee

National Archives.

Built in 1844, the Cherokee National Supreme Court

features exhibits on the Cherokee judicial system, the Cherokee

Advocate and Cherokee Phoenix newspapers, and the

Cherokee language, including a variety of historical items

including photos, stories, objects and furniture.

The Cherokee National Prison housed sentenced and

accused prisoners from throughout the territory. Built of

sandstone rock, the prison was "made to hold the most

hardened and dangerous prisoners."

The John Ross Museum highlights the life of John Ross,

Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation for more than 38 years,

and housed exhibits and interactive displays on the Trail of

Tears, Civil War, Cherokee Golden Age and the Cherokee

Nation's passion for the education of its people.
